Twin Cities Medical Society has a longstanding history of working on public health initiatives. In fact, public health initiatives were why the medical society was formed more than 150 years ago.

Most recently, physicians from the medical society led efforts to reduce exposure to secondhand smoke by its work advocating local elected officials to enact smoking bans ordinances. Physicians played a critical role in this effort which then led to the statewide law known as the Freedom to Breathe Act.

One of our key strategic areas of focus for the coming years will be on public and community health initiatives.
